“When we feel love and kindness toward others, it not only makes others feel loved and cared for, but it helps us also to develop inner happiness and peace.” __The Dalai Lama
How do you define kindness? Some say it is a sate of charitable behavior to other people. The Talmud claims “deeds of kindness are equal in weight to all the commandments," and in Buddhism, one of the ten perfections is Mettā, translated as “loving kindness.” It is a recognized value in many religions and cultures.
Have acts of kindness been forgotten in this busy, multi-tasking stress filled world we live in? When you do a key word search on “stress,” you will find over12,000 searches. That means an awful lot of people are looking for some kind of relief from the pressures of today’s lifestyle. They hurt. They need a way to heal, to feel valued, to feel whole. People with illnesses such as cancer and other chronic diseases and experiencing hard times, need to receive tiny acts of love and kindness. Connecting with others lies at the heart of healing. The miracle of kindness lies in the fact that not only do you make a difference in someone else’s life, you expand your capacity to love. Will you take the time to give an encouaging word to someone who is discouraged, or give a smile to someone who can’t seem to find a reason to smile, or hold the hand of your friend so full of fear, or just send a card that will touch someone’s heart and soul?
Cards are special vehicles for healing. There are all kinds of cards; funny cards, insipirational cards, and caring cards. Hallmark® does a fine job; however, I want to share another source for the most unbelievable, creative, healing, and caring cards you can imagine. It’s a service by a company called SendOutCards® that allows you to customize your own cards, add pictures, and your own signature. They even have a special cancer caring card for all kinds of cancer. Talk about random acts of kindness, lifting spirits, and touching hearts, this should be a major consideration.
Nicole Hoeskstra, a distributor for SendOutCards,® www.LoveTheCards.com
has extended numerous acts of kindness to me helping me learn how to build an internet business and learning the mechanics of effective social networking. Her sensitity to my needs and helping me help others with cancer has been most inspiring.
Kindness to me is giving from my heart and not expecting anything back. I give because I want to give and that revitalizes me. There is no disappointment. There is only more energy to give more kindness, especially to those who hurt, who need love, who need to reclaim their humanness.
There are many ways to express kindness. How do you show your kindness?
I invite you to comment on how your expressions of kindness have inspired you.
